Mahalo and Howdy
At Kona Texas Coffee, we’re geeks about the bean.
Did you know that coffee beans from the Kona Coffee Belt make up less than 1% of all coffee beans on the planet?
And did you also know that the volcanic soil from both Mauna Loa and Hualālai (the active volcanoes in the Kona Belt) and their different elevation levels affect the aroma and overall flavor profile of each bean grown there? That means that every grower has a unique harvest from their farm (and we’d like to think our’s are the best).
On the western slope of Hualālai, at an elevation of 1500 feet, sits our partner coffee farm. Run by two generations of coffee farmers, everything they do is intentional, meticulous, and done with a boat load of passion. Because of this specific growing environment and elevation, our beans take on notes of milk chocolate, brown sugar, and toasted nuts with subtle hints of stone fruit.
For us, massive commercial growers and corporations were out of the question when it came to who we sourced our coffee beans from. Which is why we decided to partner up with a small, award-winning, family-owned-and-operated coffee farm with two generations of coffee growers in the driver’s seat. Every last coffee bean is carefully grown, lovingly harvested, and freshly roasted on site at their estate in the Kona Belt. Partnering with their family has allowed us a greater level of control over our end product and what all goes into each bottle. That means choice bean selection, choosing our exact roasting level, knowing their full process from seed to harvest, no pesticides, and the ability to get our beans roasted the day they are shipped to us here in Texas.
Once they get to us, we grind every batch of beans fresh to preserve their flavor before making our cold brew. In addition to this, we use reverse osmosis, ultra-filtered water to remove any possible contaminants that could affect the overall flavor of our cold brew.
And when it comes to the finished product, you can trust that every single bottle of coffee we produce is all-natural with no artificial dyes, flavors, or preservatives.
You won’t find a fresher, more flavorful, purer, more uniquely Hawaiian cold brew anywhere else in Texas and thats something to be proud of.
Yeehaw, y’all,
